Zsolt Korompay

I have been playing drums for over 40 years and teaching for more than 30. I started playing at the age of 14 and studied with Antal „Kázmér” Faragó, Iván Nesztor, József Kiss, and János Szanyi. I have also attended masterclasses with internationally renowned drummers including Steve Smith, Rick Latham, Terry Bozzio, Jim Chapin, Jojo Mayer, Gary Chaffee, Joe Porcaro, and Virgil Donati.

I began teaching drums privately in 1993. Since then, I have taught students at different levels and with different goals. Over the years, I’ve hosted workshops across Hungary—including events like Dobosok Farsangja, Ceglédi Dobosgála, and Music Expo. Since 2010, I’ve also been a regular instructor at the DobMánia Camp upon the invitation of József Bordás.

I have written 8 drum books and released two instructional DVDs. I also co-authored the Drum Art 2 instructional book with György Martonosi. My books and sheet music are used by drum teachers across Hungary.

I was also a regular contributor to DobosMagazin (a former Hungarian drum publication) from its very first issue. I also regularly publish instructional videos on my YouTube channel.
